Setting up Outlook 2000 for Windows.

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook 2000.
  2. Select Tools -> Accounts from the menu.
  3. Click on the “Mail” tab.
  4. Click on the “Add” button and select “Mail” from the menu that appears.

Add Mail Account

  1. Enter your name in the space provided and click “Next”.

Set Display Name

  1. Enter your full email address in the space provided and click “Next”.

Provide the E-Mail Address

  1. Select “POP3” from the drop-down menu.
  2. Enter mail.idmi.net in the space provided for both the incoming and outgoing email servers and click “Next”.

Set E-Mail Server Names

  1. Enter your full email address in the “Account Name” field.
  2. Enter the password you were provided in the “Password” field and click “Next”.

Provide Account Name And Password

  1. Select the appropriate connection from the list that appears and click “Next”.

Select Internet Connection Method

  1. Click the “Finish” button.

Congratulations Dialog Box

  1. The email account you just created should now appear on the list of accounts in the “Internet Accounts” dialog box. Select the account and click “Properties”.

Newly Set Up E-Mail Account

  1. On the window that appears, click on the “Servers” tab.
  2. On the bottom of the window is a check box that states, “My server requires authentication”. Check this box and then click the “Settings” box next to it.

Mail Account Advanced Settings

  1. In the window that appears, make sure that the “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” radio is selected and click “OK”.

Outgoing Mail Server Settings

  1. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
  2. Change the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" port from "25" to "587".
  3. Click “OK” and then “Close”.
